Desktop Shortcuts (System Restart Shortcut)

System Restart Shortcut

This system restart shortcut will allow a twenty second delay before the system restarts.

Instructions:

• Right-click on the desktop and select New - then click Shortcut

• Type the location of the item. (Enter the path to the executable file and arguments.)  C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -t 20 -r

         * You can adjust the time delay by adjusting the arguments. example (-t 10 -r) up to (-t 600 -r)  ten seconds to ten minutes.

• Click on Next and name the new shortcut "System Restart"

• Click on Finish and a desktop shortcut will be created.

Note: I create an "Icons" folder in my public pictures folder. (C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Icons) I keep all of my custom icons in that folder so if I ever need to migrate to a different computer I can copy my Icons to the same address and they will work with my imported shorcuts on my new computer.

You can place your own custom icons in the folder or save one of the following icons to the location.
